About the company

Deciphex is a rapidly growing AI technology company, based in Dublin, Ireland providing software solutions for both non-clinical and clinical Pathology. From its inception in 2017, the company has scaled rapidly to a team of over 60 people, based in 6 countries worldwide, and is projected to hit 70+ people by late 2021. The company also has US & UK subsidiaries, with plans to expand into new markets. The company has been heavily involved in R&D with several EU and national grants to drive new product pipeline development. This has been supplemented with significant investment funding from VCs and private entities to enable the company commercial development and growth.

Through our work, we help pharma accelerate the process of essential drug development and we help cancer patients get timely and accurate diagnosis. We are software developers, clinical specialists, artificial intelligence engineers, operations professionals and so much more, all working as one team to support our customers and patients around the world.

Deciphex are actively seeking a Business Development specialist to identify and capitalize on opportunities in the USA.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop business opportunities in US regions in order to establish customer base
  • Take a lead role in the development of proposals and presentations for new business materials to create and nurture business opportunities and partnerships
  • Develop and implement overarching outbound sales and business development strategy, sales processes, structure, and best practices
  • Support deal structure and pricing with business value analysis; negotiate prices for proactive bids and proposals
  • Keeping up to date with regional marketing trends and developments and acting as the regional market advisor to wider business
  • Identify trends and customer needs, building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with targets
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies to achieve strategic goals
  • Introducing new product / service developments to prospective clients
  • Acting as representative of the company at regional and global trade shows, conferences and events
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations
  • Complete all mandatory company training and job specific training required for the role, including ISMS, GLP, DocuSign, SDLC as applicable

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Higher in relevant scientific field

Requirements for the Role

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years Business Development/ Sales Experience in USA in healthcare services industry (pathology, laboratory etc.)
  • Knowledge of & experience with USA healthcare regulations and requirements including CAP, CLIA and State regulations
  • Successful track record in B2B sales with strong negotiation & persuasion skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer oriented mindset with passion for helping clients to meet their goals
  • Strong project management skills – ability to plan & manage commercial projects
  • Independent problem solver
  • Creative, organisational and analytical skills

Travel Requirements

  • Candidate must hold a valid Passport and Full, clean Drivers’ License
  • Candidate will be required to travel to represent the company at Customer locations, Trade Exhibitions & promotional events within the USA region (50%+ Travel Time)
  • Ability to undertake travel to international training events and conferences as required
  • Must be fluent in English


  • Experience working within pathology, laboratory, oncology, academic medical centres and/or clinical services
  • Experience with Digital Pathology
  • Experience in field-based client relationship management or sales a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity with healthcare or pathology services specifically in USA region
  • Familiarity with various state clinical guidelines and regulations

Work Environment

  • This position is a Remote / Field-based position; the work environment shall be considered as the user’s home working location along with customer locations and trade events / exhibitions as required
  • This position will require remote collaboration with associates on US Time Zones (PST through EST), GMT and on occasion Central European Time
  • On occasion, candidate may be requested to work overtime and weekends for special program events.
