National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) Specialist Digital Pathology Scientist

Fixed Term for 12months, Part/Flexible working applicants encouraged. Weekend work may be required.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been at the forefront of Digital Pathology research and innovation for over 15 years. A £50m initiative from Office for Life Sciences and the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund has led to the scale-up of the programme to the National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC). NPIC builds on that advanced starting position, uniting a consortium of academic, clinical and industry partners with a common vision – to create a world-leading centre for digital pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) on which a UK industrial sector can grow and thrive.

The post holder will have existing knowledge and experience of Digital pathology and used of digital pathology scanners and will work closely with the NPIC Research Operations Manager and team to support the delivery of the programme and related projects within Digital Health – Digital Pathology and Artificial Intelligence growing research portfolio of work. You will be an enthusiastic person, keen to build relationships with organisations across the NHS, industry and universities to build the portfolio of work. You will be willing to work flexibly with a wide range of stakeholders in a challenging operational environment. You must have exceptionally strong attention to detail and a willingness to work around the needs of the team and organisation. You will be working on cutting-edge, innovative developments that will deliver real change for staff and patients.

The post-holder will be self-motivated, tenacious individual, with extensive demonstrable experience of consistent delivery of a range of research projects and budgets. You will have the ability to work without supervision to tight deadlines. You will be a team player with a ‘can do attitude’, helping to deliver the programme.

The post is for 12 months with an opportunity to extend (subject to funding).

You may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the check on your behalf & will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service & pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. DBS checks for volunteers are free.
