There is a full- or part-time job as laboratory (histology) technician available at the Institute of Animal Pathology, University of Bern, to join our comprehensive animal pathology center. The position is available from now onwards.
The Institute of Animal Pathology (ITPA, combines a dedicated diagnostic unit and basic research in one institute. Our necropsy and biopsy services provide an essential quality control for the clinic and make a critical contribution to state-of-the-art teaching and translational research. A crucial part of the institute to fulfil these tasks is our dedicated histology laboratory that supports the Vetsuisse Faculty Bern. The mission of this laboratory is to provide excellent analyses of tissues from various animal species to understand the basic cause of disease. Our core histology laboratory team consist of three technicians. One of this position is now available.

In the scope of this job, we mainly apply histotechnology approaches including trimming of specimen, embedding, microtome/cryostat sectioning, various tissue stainings and immunohistochemistry. In addition, slides are scanned for digital pathology analyses. The position requires accuracy in the registration and processing of tissues, good organizational and administrative skills, and the capability to work in a team and under time constraints.
We are looking for a highly motivated, reliable person with a strong interest in histology. The successful candidate should be skilled in processing tissues for microscopic analyses, have high quality standards, she/he should be pro-active with a strong sense of service and she/he should be able to work independently.
