LOCATION: Histopathology Department, Airedale General Hospital and other Trust sites as appropriate.

The Histology Department at Airedale Foundation Trust has successfully formed a joint venture with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust April in 2017. Both hospitals are high-performing Trusts providing acute and specialist outreach services for local people.

The Department of Histopathology at Airedale is looking to appoint a Medical Laboratory Assistant Band 2 level. These posts are Fixed Term for One Year.

The Department of Histopathology is ISO15189:2012 accredited and is also a recognised HCPC / IBMS training laboratory.

The selected candidates will be expected to perform routine daily tasks which include receipt of pathological specimens, assisting with the pathological dissection of tissue, input of data, block and slide filing , in addition to the retrieval and filing of blocks and slides from St Lukes Hospital and the daily maintenance of equipment and machinery used.

The successful candidate will rotate throughout the laboratory inclusive of both Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and participate in activities in each area.

This position has been created through funding received from NPIC (National Pathology Imaging Co-operative) and Innovate UK. The candidate will be expected to support and help facilitate the integration of Digital Pathology.

Please note that the job description alludes to both Band 2 and 3. You would only be required to perform duties appropriate to your Band.
