This position is for Chief of Digital Pathology Transformation for the Department of Pathology & Immunology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. This individual will be responsible, as part of the leadership team, for the day to day, as well as long-term, operation and oversight of the digitization initiative across all of our site.

Job Duties

  • Develops and defines project plans project scope, activities, schedules and deliverables in both clinical and research digitization applications
  • Is responsible for the hiring of qualified applicants for project roles as needed
  • Manages project risks, issues/problems and activity progress to ensure project goals are achieved in a reasonable time frame
  • Serves as a liaison between the technical and non-technical teams and advises the leadership team on opportunities as they arise
  • Update departmental leadership on the existing state of digital pathology and new activities in the literature
  • Mentor staff in the department for leadership positions in this field
  • Develops and maintains QA metrics and any existing metrics by accrediting agencies in Pathology
  • Advises leadership on sales and marketing strategies and their implementation
  • Advises leadership on capital expenditures for each stage of the project and reasonable timelines for component acquisitions

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the digitization hardware and software as it applies to pathology
  • Working knowledge of SDLC processes and ISO 9000 implementation
  • Working knowledge of HLA7 protocols and interface issues with Medical LIS’s and EMR’s
  • Strong presentation skills and working knowledge of presentation modalities
  • Ability to manage project initiation activities including contractual obligations, client needs and goals both in the US and Internationally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Ability to interact effectively with executive level clients
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and carry out assignments that are sensitive in nature
  • Knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to apply technical standards and information to clinical diagnostic settings

Minimum Qualifications

Degree: MS in Computer Science
Experience: 10 years
