SUMMARY:Introduction to DICOM in Digital Pathology
DESCRIPTION:0000Days00Hrs00Min00SecPlan ahead to attend Introduction to DICOM in Digital Pathology\, a 2-day training\, delivered virtually through Zoom on Dec 9-10. (member rates available!) This hands-on training program provides an in-depth understanding of DICOM in digital pathology\, covering metadata\, image encoding\, storage solutions\, interoperability challenges\, and future trends. \nDigital pathology is rapidly evolving\, and DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is the key standard for interoperability and storage. This two-day hands-on training program provides an in-depth understanding of DICOM in digital pathology\, covering metadata\, image encoding\, storage solutions\, interoperability challenges\, and future trends. Participants will explore real-world applications through interactive exercises\, discussions\, and practical demonstrations. By the end of the course\, attendees will have the knowledge and skills to implement DICOM workflows in pathology environments\, improving data integration\, accessibility\, and compliance. Development of this course includes input from pathologists with first-hand experience in implementing DICOM in their current practices\, giving you a real-world perspective. \nLearning Objectives\nBy the end of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nExplain the role of DICOM in digital pathology and how it differs from radiology applications.\nIdentify key metadata structures\, file formats\, and pixel data encoding relevant to pathology imaging.\nImplement and test DICOM Associations in combination with Storage/Storage Commitment.\nImplement and test DICOMweb APIs (WADO\, QIDO) for querying and retrieving pathology images.\nDesign and evaluate storage solutions\, including Vendor Neutral Archives (VNAs) for pathology labs.\nUtilize DICOM converters to transform pathology images and ensure interoperability with PACS.\nRecognize legal\, IT\, and standardization challenges in implementing DICOM-based pathology workflows.\nDiscuss how AI\, machine learning\, and emerging technologies are shaping the future of digital pathology.\n\nRegister NowFormat/Class Structure\nThis 2-day training will be delivered virtual live through Zoom on September 8th and 9th. Training on both days will start at 11:00am and end at 4:30 pm ET. There will be one 15-minute and one 30-minute break each day. \nWho Should Take This Course\nThis course is designed for: \n\nPathologists & Laboratory Technicians\nHealthcare IT Professionals & PACS Administrators\nMedical Imaging & Informatics Specialists\nSoftware Developers & Engineers in Digital Pathology\nRegulatory & Compliance Officers
