SUMMARY:Can AI Predict Patient Outcomes in Ovarian Cancer?
DESCRIPTION:0000Days00Hrs00Min00SecExperimental image-based AI models are very good at extracting new information from standard H&E pathology slides. However\, the biological interpretation of these novel findings is a challenge. In this webinar\, Dr. Anna Laury\, Clinical Researcher at the University of Helsinki\, will explain how they used scanned H&E slides of high-grade serous carcinoma of the tube/ovary (HGSC) together with spatially resolved transcriptomics to explore whether AI findings actually represent biological differences in these tumors. \nHigh-grade serous carcinoma of the tube/ovary (HGSC) is characterized by aggressive behavior\, chemotherapy resistance\, and low 5-year survival\, but also exhibits striking variability in outcome. Our understanding of this disease is limited\, partly due to considerable tumor heterogeneity\, and predicting any individual patient’s response to therapy is challenging. \nDr. Laury’s team used Aiforia® Create to train an AI model to predict patient outcome in HGSC by identifying tumor regions that are highly associated with outcome status. The tumor regions identified by the AI model are currently indistinguishable by pathologists. They then used spatially resolved transcriptomics to profile these AI-identified tumor regions and identify molecular features related to disease outcome. \nRegister for the webinar to hear more about this proof-of-concept study\, which shows that AI-guided spatial transcriptomic analysis improves recognition of biologic features relevant to patient outcomes. \nRegister NowSpeakersAnna Laury\, MD\, PhD\nClinical Researcher\nUniversity of Helsinki \nDr. Laury is a clinical researcher at the University of Helsinki. She received her medical degree from the University of California\, Los Angeles and pathology training at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Her clinical interests include women’s and perinatal pathology\, and her research is currently focused on the development and progression of tubo-ovarian serous carcinoma. \nDarshan Kumar\, PhD\nDirector of the Global FAS team\nAiforia Technologies \nDarshan Kumar has worked at Aiforia for over four years as a Customer Success Manager and Scientist. He currently leads the global team of Field Application Scientists. He did his PhD research in cell and molecular biology at the University of Helsinki and has a master’s in Biomedical Sciences from Leiden University.

SUMMARY:Evaluation of HER2-Low and Ultralow Status of Advanced Breast Carcinomas
DESCRIPTION:0000Days00Hrs00Min00SecJoin this webinar to discover how digital pathology with AI evaluation is a more sensitive method for HER2-low assessment. Dr. Anikó Kovács (Department of Clinical Pathology\, Sahlgrenska University Hospital\, Gothenburg\, Sweden) will present findings from a retrospective study on the HER2-low status of advanced breast carcinomas in core biopsies. \nThe aim of the study was to: \n\ncompare the outcome of HER2 scoring using conventional microscopy\, digital pathology\, and AI.\nassess changes in HER2-low status in core biopsies\, matching operation specimens\, and their distant metastases.\n\nRegister for the webinar to learn more about the findings and how AI can help determine a more accurate HER2-low status\, providing an exact percentage of each HER2 score within seconds with high accuracy. \nWho should join?\n\nPathologists involved in biomarker testing\nOncologists relying on HER2-low status in treatment decisions\nAnyone involved in breast cancer diagnostics or therapeutic decision-making\nAnyone interested in using or developing AI models for image analysis in digital pathology\n\nRegister NowSpeakersAnikó Kovács\, MD\, PhD\nAssociate Professor\, Pathologist\, and Lecturer\nSahlgrenska University Hospital \n\nHas worked in research in Sweden for the past 23 years\nBreast cancer research at the Leicester University in the UK\nResearch background also in Japan (Kitasato University) and Hungary\n\nRute Pedrosa\, PhD\nSenior Field Application Scientist\nAiforia Technologies \n\nHas worked at Aiforia for 2.5 years\nPhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam\, focusing on the pathogenesis of brain metastatic disease
