DICOM Implementation Using the Aperio GT 450 DX Whole Slide Imaging Solution for Anatomic Pathology Case Diagnosis

2024-12-18T14:11:41+00:00

The digital pathology (DP) landscape has grown globally with a revenue of just under $800 million in 2021, with the initial growth attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic, which enabled the pathologist to render remote diagnosis and allowed for continued services to the patients to more than $1 billion in 2024, and projected to increase to about $2 billion by 2027 (Figure 1) in clinical and research settings with the continuous rising trend expected to transition to the next decade. Additionally, a 15% growth in DP adoption by the healthcare community versus a minuscule initial market footprint in the last 5 years corroborates the interest shown by pathologists in using this technology.

Case Study: Leveraging AI for Quantitative Assessments of Kidney Health in Diabetic Animal Models

2024-12-16T15:07:19+00:00

Diabetes is a chronic condition that significantly impacts kidney health, often leading to a serious complication known as diabetic nephropathy. Over time, high blood sugar levels can damage the blood vessels in the kidneys, impairing their ability to filter waste from the blood effectively. This progressive kidney damage can result in proteinuria, decreased kidney function, and eventually, end-stage renal disease (ESRD), necessitating kidney transplantation or dialysis. Understanding the effects of diabetes on kidney health is crucial for developing effective treatments and preventive strategies to mitigate these adverse outcomes and improve the quality of life for diabetic patients.
