This news follows the announcement of £7.5 million in recent investment in Cirdan, which includes £5 million from 57 Stars and additional support from the Investment Fund for Northern Ireland (IFNI). 57 Stars will join Cirdan’s investing shareholders—Kernel Capital through The Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital Growth Fund (NI), and Clarendon Fund Managers through their Investment Fund for Northern Ireland—on our mission to drive innovation and deliver cutting-edge healthcare solutions on a global scale.
As Managing Director and Member of the Investment Committee at 57 Stars, Bernard McGuire brings over 15 years of experience in business development, global investment strategies, and market expansion. Since joining 57 Stars in 2008, Bernard has been instrumental in launching new products, developing funds, and executing investments across emerging global markets. His extensive knowledge and track record make him an exceptional addition to our leadership team.
Bernard’s expertise in international markets will play a pivotal role as Cirdan accelerates global expansion. His understanding of and experience in diverse markets will support our efforts to strengthen Cirdan’s presence worldwide, ultimately enabling us to bring our innovative healthcare solutions to more patients and healthcare providers around the world.

Our partnership with 57 Stars and the Investment Fund for Northern Ireland is a testament to the potential and impact of Cirdan’s technology in the healthcare industry. With their support, we are confident in our ability to scale our solutions globally and make a significant impact in the healthcare sector, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes’.
Denise Sidhu, Finance Director and Partner with Kernel Capital, adds ‘In 2015 when we first invested in Cirdan it was a 20-person company, with a dynamic CEO and big on ambition. The past 9 years have been a rewarding journey, it’s great to see the company today employing 120+ people and scaling rapidly, a testament to the power of combining bold ideas with the right support. We welcome 57 Stars’ investment and look forward to continuing to support this excellent team in their global expansion’.
Bernard McGuire adds ‘Cirdan’s innovative technology is transforming the way critical diagnostic procedures are performed, and we are excited to support their journey toward becoming a global leader in pathology diagnostics and informatics. This partnership aligns with our strategy of investing in companies that harness technology to solve complex challenges in high-growth sectors’.
We are thrilled to welcome Bernard McGuire to our Board of Directors and look forward to collaborating with the entire 57 Stars team as we continue to drive innovation and scale our business. This partnership strengthens our ability to bring Cirdan’s transformative technology to thousands more healthcare providers and patients across the globe, ensuring that our vision of revolutionising healthcare is realised on a truly global scale.
Finally, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the entire Corporate Legal team at Millar McCall Wylie, whose expertise and dedication were instrumental in ensuring the success of this investment and partnership.
