During the Digital Pathology & AI Conference in London, the Pathology News team spoke with Troy Bankhead from Techcyte about how the company is approaching digital pathology and AI integration in anatomic pathology.

Founded in 2013, Techcyte began in clinical pathology before expanding into AP, developing Fusion AP, a cloud-native platform designed to support routine diagnostic workflows. Built with direct input from pathologists, the platform promotes workflow efficiency and supports triaged worklists, rapid whole-slide viewing, synoptic reporting and tumour board collaboration.

A key theme of the discussion was embedded AI. Fusion AP supports both Techcyte’s own algorithms and third-party AI tools, with results displayed directly within the pathologist’s existing viewer rather than through external systems. The platform is scanner-agnostic, standards-based, and integrates with wider laboratory and hospital systems.

With deployments across Europe and the US, and development supported by partners including Mayo Clinic, Techcyte is positioning Fusion AP as an integrated environment for digital pathology and AI in clinical practice.
