A new proof-of-concept study showcasing the capabilities of the Flash Scanner has been published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM) — and proudly features on the cover of the issue.

The study demonstrates the ability of the Flash Scanner to assess sample adequacy on-site during lung cryobiopsies, highlighting its potential to reduce sampling errors and accelerate diagnostic workflows in interstitial lung disease (ILD) diagnosis.

Using label-free Higher Harmonic Generation (HHG) microscopy, the research shows how rapid on-site evaluation of biopsy representativity can be achieved within minutes — with high sensitivity and specificity compared to conventional histopathology, and without the need for any tissue processing.

This milestone publication reflects a successful collaboration between researchers and clinicians working at the forefront of pulmonary pathology and imaging innovation.
