FocalRing®
FocalRing®
The FocalRing is a specialized tool designed to reduce scanning failures and the need for rescans commonly associated with poor focal plane definition of small tissue biopsies and cytology samples. By ensuring consistent focus, the FocalRing helps labs achieve reliable whole slide scanning results.
Key Benefits & Facts:
- Reduces scanning failures and rescans by providing a consistent plane of focus.
- Designed specifically for small tissue biopsy and low-cellularity cytology slide preparation.
- Comes embedded in a block, ready for sectioning at the same thickness as the sample. One FocalRing block yields approximately 300 slides when cut on the microtome at 4 microns thick.
- Compatible with standard lab processes, including staining and digitizing.
To use, lab personnel section the FocalRing block at the same thickness as the tissue or cell structure that will go with it, deparaffinize and clear it on a slide, place the desired sample within the ring, and then they can resume standard processing for staining and digitizing.
